C'mon everybody! We're movin' to Portland!
I've been offered a job in Portland, OR that I intend to accept tomorrow, after talking to their relocation people. It's a good electrical engineering job with Novellus. Gonna be makin' the things that make them chips. Good chance your next computer will have been partially built/processed by one of my machines.
I'll let people know how things are up there, I've heard nothing but good, and it's close enough to drive to Seattle for the weekend. I'm going to welcome most folks to crash at my place, should they feel like disentangling themselves from the Land of Entrapment.
I turned down a similar position in Boston that I was really looking forward to taking. Seriously, Boston, how the FUCK did you get more expensive than San Fran AND New York City? Which is too bad, I was dreaming of foggy Silent Hill fishing villages and cool October nights. But they probably have that in Oregon too.
I'm going to spend at least $300-350 of my homesteading allowance on getting some quality Oxen, it will help speed the trip up.
