Last night we went to see "Superbad", which I figured I would enjoy, but it exceeded my expectations. Really, really funny.

I finally met with some people at the Metro School last Friday, after weeks of trying to get a response/appointment. I briefly met the principal, and then talked to their physics teacher for a little while. The school has only three long periods per day, and then the students change up which classes they are taking each quarter. This quarter, physics runs from 12:30 to 2:30 every day, so I guess that is basically when I'm going to be there. Thomas, the physics teacher, said lunch is free and very good there, so I will probably have lunch there with him most days so we can talk about what he'll be doing in class.

I went shopping again later on Friday to get some more clothes appropriate to their dress code. I used to like that I had only two pairs of shoes -- one for everyday use and one that I wore almost-never when I had to be dressed up. Now I have five. I am sad.

I've been plugging away at Metroid Prime 3 and loving it. Is anyone reading this also playing? I've built up like 14 "friend vouchers" but I don't yet have anybody on my list to trade them with to get friend credits. (You "buy" bonus content with differently-colored credits, and the only way to get green ones is to have a friend send you their vouchers.) If anybody's playing, make sure you turn on the Connect24 feature in your save file's options.

Last week I got a package slip in the mailbox and had no idea what it was. When I went to the post office to pick it up, I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was the newest Dinotopia book, Journey to Chandara, which wasn't supposed to be released until October! I pre-ordered from the official website store several weeks ago. Like everything you order from the official site, it was personalized by artist/writer James Gurney. He wrote my name and drew a parasaurolophus (at my request -- it's my favorite dinosaur) in the "this book belongs to" box on the inside cover. It looks like they redesigned their website in the last few weeks, and Gurney now has a blog where he shows lots of sketches and making-of stuff. You can get a really nice look at his techniques. Highly recommended! I love the "face book" he showed where he collects/sketches thumbnails of the people at meetings. He's amazing.
