This afternoon, I did some more work on the structure. I applied water seal to the surface of one of the upper top-plate pieces (the south), because that piece extends just beyond a corner. Where it extends beyond the corner, I cut off a small triangle on the outside and glued it to the inside (with little nails). The water seal is there to reduce the possibility that moisture will affect the glue. It may not be necessary, because the little triangle will probably not be structural, but the water seal isn't going to hurt anything.
I cut two more upper top-plate pieces (southwest and west), but in spite of measuring several times neither one is quite right. I started some re-work on them, but they weren't done when it was time to move on to other activities. Annoyingly, the mistakes are in a spot that is at least somewhat structural, so I may want to add some reinforcing material, such as cutting away a little thickness and gluing on thin plywood. Then again, the structure is overengineered in most places, so maybe that's not necessary.
Usually I do computer drawings for things before I start measuring. On the not-quite-right pieces, I substituted hand drawings, and the angles were not sufficiently precise. Since I have a few more similar pieces to cut, maybe I'll do the computer drawings tomorrow.
This afternoon, soon after I picked up "
T" from school, "
J" and I had a video conference with T's teacher. It was longer than we had expected. We were impressed that the teacher spent so much time with us.
Early this evening, J warmed up another of the fancy ready-to-eat meals: vegan lasagna. It was delicious. The cheese wasn't quite like regular cheese, but that's not a problem. The side dish of asparagus was delicious too.
Later this evening, I had a remote get-together with my Monday evening friends, who have been a bit scarce lately. All of us were there: "
J" (on-line "host"), "
L" and "
M" (hosts when we got together in person), and "
M" and "
D". It was good to get together with them again, even if only on-line.
Quarantine report: three outside stops: T to school, post office, T from school.
