You know, every year it seems more and more assumed that when the first Monday of February comes along, BU's just going to steamroll whatever sad sack Boston team gets the displeasure of having to face them in the first round of the Beanpot. Last night it was the Northeastern Huskies, who got trounced 4-0. That makes 13 straight appearances in the finals for the Icedogs, and 10 of those 13, we came away with the trophy. In a way, it's not fair. In another way, I couldn't care less. What I really like about this team is the fact that they are not the same team full of flashy scorers that produced guys like Chris Drury and Tony Amonte. They're winning on the back of the best defense in the country, with the lowest Goals Against Average and a Senior goalie that notched his sixth shutout of the year last night. Hard nosed, blue collar hockey. Sure, they don't score as many goals as they used to or as I'd like them to, but it's great fun to follow.

And of course, we'll see you on Monday, BC. Try to knock us off the mountain. I dare you.
