A lot of the advertised activities at this particular Jamaican location were various levels of "dolphin encounters", which I think US tourists can be charged arbitrarily much for (and which for me are tinged with some moral discomfort). Most of the rest were very "active" in one way or another (e.g. rafting, bobsledding, a zipline) that made us uneasy given Kim's pregnancy and/or my knee. And yeah, cruiseline shore excursion prices would probably go higher in an expensive location, but they don't get especially low in a cheap one.
Incidentally, you may or may not have noticed that the travel agency's official photographer is a guy named Randal Schwartz, who I'm told knows a little bit about Perl.
