It's officially my last day in Colorado, and I have to say.. it's about time. For two days, I sat in the basement while Shawn and Jerry worked and Steve pretended to do freelance work since he had nothing better to do. On Tuesday, I watched the entire original Star Wars trilogy. I also learned how to play X-Box 360 once the guys were done working. We played Marvel with Ian for awhile, then he left and we got to play in peace. I beat Mysterio all by myself, it was quite exciting. We also had fondue and watched Borat. Oh my word. I refuse to ever recommend that movie to anyone, it was just foul. I'll admit, some parts were actually funny, but the gross parts definitely outweighed them.
Wednesday, we did nothing all day once again. Steve and I considered exploring the cliff dwellings about 20 minutes out of the city, but decided to wait till the next day since we knew we would have nothing to do then, either. Jerry and Shawn sent us out to get lunch for them.. Jerry wrote out their orders for Subway and misspelled provolone ("parvalone") and mayonnaise ("mayonase").. We got pretty cracked up because it's so typical of Jerry to come up with ridiculous spellings for words, even when they're phonetically spelled. By the time we got to Subway, we couldn't even talk because we kept doubling over in laughter.
After lunch, Steve taught me how to play hockey on 360 and.. it was amazing. I'm developing blisters on my thumbs (coughnerdcough, I know). Jerry was jealous that I could play hockey and he couldn't because of his kids. For dinner, we ordered Chinese, so when we wrote out our orders for Jerry, we wrote them phonetically just to pick on him.. I asked for "sweet and sower chicken" and Steve asked for "beef low main".. when it was time for him to order, Jerry looked at Steve's order as if it really were written in Chinese, which killed us even more.
Ian kept whining to join us for hockey later on and for a few minutes I didn't say anything. Finally, I got tired of hearing him whine, and in teacher mode, I whipped around and stared him down and growled "If you keep acting like that, Ian, you won't play with us at all." HAHAHAHA That may have been the funniest part of the entire trip because he's not used to being corrected. He made the meanest face he could and stormed upstairs. Ever since then, all I have to do is stare him down and stand up like I'm about to approach him and he runs away and hides. MUAHAHAHAHAH!!!
Yesterday Steve and I finally went to the cliff dwellings. We got lost on the way there and on the way back. We basically spent an extra hour in the car because basically every turn we took was a wrong one. We wound up in the ghetto of Colo Springs, thinking.. "I didn't know Jerry lived this close to the bad part of town!".. no, no.. we were just driving in completely the opposite direction. The cliff dwellings looked pretty cool, we walked around and took some pictures and it was nice to finally be out of the house away from the whining kids and Jerry pretending to do work on a "conference call".
Last night, Rob came into town so we had pizza and played poker while smoking authentic cigars. Apparently I light my cigars better than Shawn and he was jealous and a little perplexed at how I developed such a skill. I guess I'm just a natural. I won the first hand, but then everything was downhill after that. Once Shawn and I were out of chips, we came down and played hockey.. the other guys joined us an hour later and we won the international championship or whatever. Cause now, I'm an awesome hockey player. And I body checked every person that came in my way.
Today, I'm hoping to play Phase 10 with Steve and Rob while the stupid people do their work. Then at 5 (on the dot, mind you), we're peacing out of this joint. I get to see the sun set in Kansas (sigh) but at least it'll be nighttime through that trip.. and through Missouri, which is also basically a dump. It'll be good to be home.
quote of the day:
"Kaylie's normal, Kaylie's smart!"
-in response to Shawn asking Jerry if his kids have had any contact with lead paint since they're all so out of control
