A couple of questions for friends
You've all been so supportive and welcoming in my moving experience, and I couldn't thank you enough. Even if I knew how. But now I have a few questions.
One is a favor, one is an enquiry (sort of), and one is an invitation.
I will now express them in the above order:
Would anyone in the Portland area be willing to lend me a small, working car so that I may take my driving test? I need a car that has... you know... working parts, like a horn and a speedometer. I really don't want to put any more money into the little POS we're driving now. I do need money to buy a car that works, but I need a job to get money. And I need to be able to drive (legally) to get a job. Catch 22. Otherwise, step two will be to see if I could rent one for a day. Surely not everyone who takes a driving test owns their own car. The DMV has gotta have some kind of plan B for testers, right?
By the way, I don't know when I'm going to be taking the test. As soon as I can, comfortably. I'm just kind of trolling right now to see if anyone is even open to the idea.
Question two is, again, addressed to the Portland region. In fact, they all are. Anyway, this one isn't as big a deal, because I know I could rent one, but I'm frighteningly low on money right now and REALLY need to get my garden started ASAP. Hell, I might as well ask, right? Does anyone around here have a lawnmower I could use for maybe an hour? Or possibly a gas-powered weed-eater? Or know anyone who does? If not, I'm gonna just go all the way and rent a rototiller. I have a feeling that I'm going to have a loooong fight with this garden.
And now, the good part. That is, the part where I don't try to mooch off of friends.

I am going to the Northwest Working Dog Club's annual expo. This is a big, exciting thing for me, because as many of you know, I am head-over-heels for dog training/behavior, and *especially* personal protection and other working dogs. There will be a lot of those here. There will be molossers. There will be pit bulls. There may even be decoy seminars. Or dutch shepherds!
The date is June 12th and 13th, out at the fairgrounds in St Helens. Would anyone like to join me for one or both days? I've already got Molly for one of them! Bwahaha!!
It's just too bad I don't have a DSLR yet (because I fail at life, blah de blah, how dare I call myself a photographer, etc.), but if I can just get someone schmuck to hire me I will have a Canon 5D mark II next year! (I was going for the 50D, but then I thought, well if I'm going to spend over $1,000. on a camera body alone, might as well spend a little more for a full-frame censor)
Speaking of photography, I spiffed up my Smugmug a bit. Everything is still there, but the galleries are a little more organized. Go ahead.... snoop around!
