[It was most inconvenient, this little string tied to his finger. It had been tugging at his hand and mind all day until finally he received permission to follow it

[The tugging may have been Motoko's fault as she had given it a few experimental pulls to see if someone would come flying out of nowhere. When no one did, she continued with her day as normal. By the middle of the afternoon, she felt a sudden urge to go for a drive and follow the red string. It was strange, but Motoko wasn't one to ignore the whisperings of her ghost.
So she left work early and drove off, letting her wrist hang out the window as she followed the string tied to her wrist.]
[If any of this were to really surprise him, it would be the fact that no one seemed to take note of him or the ridiculous red string trailing in front of him. But Brera was not one to be very surprised, or emotional at all actually, so it was with very mild bemusement that he noted all these things.
He was getting close. He could tell, out of some strange intuition.
He was close enough, in fact, that he felt he could just stand where he was and whoever was on the other end would find him.
So he stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and waited.]
[She sped along one road for a minute and then turned onto another. A few yards down it, she noticed the red string point toward the sidewalk. With a magnificent display of her driving skills, Motoko jerked the wheel around into a sharp U-turn. Her tires squealed at the sudden change of direction and again with an equally sudden stop as she pulled over. Ignoring stares from a few people, her eyes followed the string into the crowd and gave it a sharp tug.]
[He saw the car and the string running from it just in time to get his footing and a good grip on the string before the tug came. Anyone else might have stumbled a bit and followed after the jerk, but Brera simply tugged back.]
[Feeling the tug in return, Motoko followed the string until it led her to the man on the other end. She looked almost amused with the situation at hand.]
[She couldn't help looking him up and down, mentally cursing the community for every last one of its viruses. But, there was nothing she could do about it now. At least it wasn't Batou... he'd be moping for at least a month. Still, she had to admit, there was something about him she liked... even if she couldn't put her finger on it.]
Well, I'm assuming we're stuck like this until the community sees fit to release us. Until then, is there anything you want to do?
[She walks back to her car, hops in and waits for the stranger to buckle up. Once he's secured, she twists the key in the ignition and speeds off into the light traffic.]
[As she drives, Brera makes careful note of the city. Grace would expect a report. He also finds himself looking at her. Studying her. Not just because they're connected and he finds himself... attracted? to her, but also because he's curious as to what people from other universes are like. And he makes several observations.]
So she left work early and drove off, letting her wrist hang out the window as she followed the string tied to her wrist.]
