Whilst I am trifling about on LJ tonight, I might as well post something that could reasonably be construed as creative. I'm not claiming to be a font of prose under all circumstances, however the recent kerfuffle over the untimely demise of Anna Nicole Smith reminds me very much of a song I wrote and recorded some 6 years ago. Without interpreting it for you, I will only reveal that the song had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Anna Nicole Smith (as if, obviously not someone I really thought about as I tend to admire more "classical" beauty). Yet, it seems oddly appropriate.
lipstick macabre
staring at the mirror of vanity
tearing down the walls of conformity
a picture of allure in the flickering light
a siren with a stare that’s deadly as life
painting the seduction all over your face
the audience shrieks as the curtain is raised
drama is unveiled as you make the scene
shining so bright on the silver screen
pretty little lie made you a star
evil little mind baby that’s what you are
pretty little mask the horror of it all
a pretty dose of evil that’s lipstick macabre
the camera shoots your face so gracefully
as the world reads your name on the big marquee
an angel with a talent to make them scream
a celluloid princess with a silicon dream
all the world’s a stage you’re the star of the show
with your pale white face and your eyes that glow
pearls around your neck with a diamond crown
rings on every finger out in tinseltown
pretty little lie made you a star
evil little mind baby that’s what you are
pretty little mask the horror of it all
a pretty dose of evil that’s lipstick macabre
living with such beauty in eternity
dancing among the stars in infamy
so out of touch yet so within sight
your picture’s everywhere and your name is in lights
so in the moment and caught on film
until you looked for the answer in a bottle of pills
mourning at the funeral i wish i was the one
our cinematic queen is dead and gone
pretty little lie make you a star
evil little mind baby that’s what you are
pretty little mask the horror of it all
a pretty dose of evil that’s lipstick macabre
