Stephane Dion's press conference.
I love him. He's the first politician I have ever truly, truly believed in. Not just believed in his policies, because there are lots of policies I've believed in, but I believed in him. I believed he would do what he said he would, because he has. I believed in his honesty, and his love for this country; his country. I would vote for him again in a heartbeat, no matter what party banner he chooses to run under. Partway through his speech, I told mum I thought he was better than Trudeau. Mum actually said "I think I could get behind that". If you knew what a Trudeau fangirl she was, you'd realize just what a big deal that was. How big a geek does it make me that I actually teared up a little when he said that he wanted to thank his team, who worked so hard and whom he asked so much of, perhaps too much, because that is what this country deserved? It actually just made me teary typing it back up. Geektastic.
And Dad! My God! Dad, who is probably (besides one of my brothers) the least liberal of anyone in the family, said, without any provocation from me, even, "Well, you've got me, Dion. Where do I send the money?" *beams* He likes my guy! He finally really likes my guy! He gets more liberal every day, I swear. I do credit Martin for getting him on board, though. Martin was like, my dad's ultimate dreamdate, what with the business background and all. ;)
I think I'm going to follow my sister's lead and write a love letter to Dion now. XD
