ARGH!!!

I think that men have to be the most stubborn people in the world when it comes to taking care of themselves.

Case in point: yesterday, I took my husband to the diabetic doctor for his 3 month A1C count. This count takes the average blood sugar count for the past three months.

Anyhow, to my horror, it was 8.7! That is a very dangerous level, and his doctor was quite alarmed. It went up 50 points from the last check. I think that 10 is critical. He was 7.0 or so 3 months ago, and the doctor said that this new number was the highest in 2 years.

So anyway, needless to say, I tore him a new ass. I nagged the hell out of him for letting his blood sugar get out of control. The thing is, he could've controlled it! He told me that while he was waiting to get on the new Medicare D, he went without insulin for about 2 months, so he was just taking the glucophage pills (he takes insulin every morning). What pissed me off the most about this, is that he didn't want to spend the money to get his insulin! He wanted to wait for that insurance! He has 4 credit cards, none of them even CLOSE to being over limit, and he doesn't get the medicine! What's a few hundred dollars compared to your life???? No telling what he's done to his body in just two months. It's bad enough already!

I told him that I wanted him to move back asap, because he needs me to take care of him, because he can't take care of himself. Somebody has to put the fire under his ass to get him going!

I'm just totally disgusted with him right now.....I just can't believe that he's done this to himself! He wasn't even going to tell the doctor the reason why it was going to be high, and I urged him to tell the doctor everything! How could the doctor do his job if he didn't tell him?

I think Robert has a death wish or something, or maybe he just doesn't want to deal with the fact that he's diabetic. He's been living with it for about 13 years now, and you'd think that he'd accept the way that he is...apparently not. Maybe it is denial...who knows? I just know that we're going to do something about that disease. I'm going to read the SugarBusters diet book and see about getting a plan together for the both of us. His doctor suggested the diet some time ago, so I think that it's about time we got it in gear and did it.

I'm going to call his apartment manager today and tell her about the situation. Maybe the penalty won't be that bad, that we can work something out. I'll just pray about it, and for all of my readers out there, please pray that Robert can break the lease and move back in, and that his health will improve.
