I thought I would update for the hell of it.
I'm quite interested in literature that is disjunct and partly stream of consciousness. Maybe I'll write some later, but for now I enjoy reading it.
The creation of English literature by someone who is not native is also very interesting as you get combinations and themes that would never be seen before. If you've ever heard a Japanese song where the band attempts english you would understand what I speak of.
Currently I'm reading "A Defense of Poetry" by Percy Shelley and it's interesting in that it dabbles in the philosophical. Shelley describes Poetry as something that just happens to us, and is impossible to capture. He describes poetry as something close to Divine, and I think nothing could be closer to the truth. Often when walking along a street you see something or experience something so overwhelming beautiful that you need to express it, and I believe that is poetry (from what I understand Shelley believes this too).
The problem is expressing that poetry into the words we are given and are only able to use, as something is always lost in translation, and the moment flies away from us.
That's why it's a good idea to carry a sketchbook, journal or whatever for the medium you use.
If you are not even remotely interested in the arts then you should disregard this post, as in my experience those obsessed with Science do not understand.
PS> Andrew, the philosopher UG seems to touch on this, but focussing more on the aspect of the mind. I'm not fully sure, since I haven't been able to read everything of his yet.
