Happy (belated!) birthday to me!

So.

Jessi gave a fantastic early birthday gift.

She gave Caden the stomach flu.

Yeah.

She called last Thursday asking us to watch the kids, saying they had the sniffles. No mention that they had the effing stomach flu. Evan had to go pick them up from daycare in Proctor, bring them back to our house, feed them with our food (because Jessi never sends us food for them), then Evan had to pick his dad up from work (he works by Dan's Feed Bin in Superior) and bring him and the boys back up to Proctor. And she didn't effing pay him for this. So we were already a little miffed, but whatever.

So we sent Caden to daycare Friday, not knowing that he had been exposed to the stomach flu. I picked up Dakota friday night to come spend the weekend with us. Saturday she kept an eye on Caden while Evan and I worked, and Robyn dropped off Jordyn while she did some errand running. See the damage going up? Yeah. So after work, I picked up Dakota and Caden so we could go to Walmart because Dakota wanted to get her hair trimmed and wanted me to help her dye her hair. So we went to Cost Cutters, got her trim, and were in the aisle looking at hair dye when Caden begins making gagging noises and then projectile vomits over the side of the cart onto the floor. I mean, almost 'Exorcist'-style. So Dakota goes and gets someone to clean it up and all the people walking past see me holding a crying Caden, see the vomit on the floor, and say, "Oh, poor baby. I hope he feels better soon." Or at least, something to that degree. The woman comes, tosses a 'Wet Floor' sign down, and snaps, "Don't let anyone step in it." I want to get my child home, not watch his vomit dry. *rolls eyes*

So he seemed fine for a bit afterward, but vomited most of the night until about 10:00. He couldn't even keep water down, poor baby. And he was throwing up so hard - I wanted to cry. I felt sooo bad for him. But he finally went down for bed at 11:00, and slept until about 7:00 the next morning. He had a low-grade fever and was super sleepy all day long on Sunday. He took naps like every 45 minutes which is really unusual. He's still clingy, but he's not sick. Well, he is. He's got two teeth coming through. I found out his bottom molar is coming through the hard way - I was feeling his gums to see if any were coming through, and pressed down on this swollen spot and could feel the points of the molar underneath. Poor kid just screamed bloody murder... I felt horrid.

My birthday was pretty uneventful, got phone calls from lots of people. :) Becky called to talk about herself and not ask any questions about my or Caden's lives. Of course. And Derek is in town, so Caden and I went to meet he and Jenny and their kids at the park to play. Jenny is sweet - who knows what she's doing with that dork. :) You can tell she's a good mom; she cares about her kids so much. Derek is still the same little kid he used to be. He hasn't grown up any. Evan was so sweet, he brought me home an oriental chicken salad and extra dressing so I can make my own salads with it. I was very, very excited, I'm going to have a huge salad with it on my lunch today.

My paycheck was awesome this week... Which was great. Still waiting to hear back from Tony about whether or not Grandma's will help us out with moving expenses. We've exhausted every option we can think of, even calling places like the United Way and the Ordean fund. I felt like such a scuz. *sigh* But you do what you have to do, right?
