Writer's Block: Sparker Sentences

Jun 17, 2009 19:25

I've been writing so much these days, I just thought I needed to share this little list of things that can get you going when it comes to writing stories. :)

This is just a bunch of sentences of sorts that may help you spark a story--think of it as a sparker sentence, as I like to call it. Writer's block came up to me before, and this was the result. The order and topic of these sentences are purely random.

So here we go:
  • "What's in that box? A snake? Dude, who gets that for Christmas?"
  • "I'm getting out of here!" And with that, she started heading off to the door, only to be greeted by a clap of thunder and heavy rain.
  • The smoke filled the streets. No one knew what happened next.
  • "...But I feel ridiculous in this hat."
  • I knew this wallet didn't belong to me, but with all that money sitting in there...
  • The sugar was sweet, but the cook using those ingredients sure was sour.
  • Dani couldn't speak--the poison started taking effect--slowly killling her inside...
  • This wall held so many memories--although it's one of the cleanest walls in the city.
  • "Can I try my hand at that?"
  • Those words were like being stabbed in the ears with a rusty dagger.
  • "...It was sure nice meeting you, but did we have to meet here?"
  • What lay under the Christmas tree sure surprised me.
  • The wine tasted like vinegar--but it was a good thing I didn't drink the tea, which tasted like cooking oil.
  • Rain came down so hard that I could almost hear the pavement crying out for mercy.
  • "...If it's raining, then how else would these clothes get wet?"
  • I couldn't hear it, but I somehow felt like someone was crying.
  • I'm so glad I don't believe in bad luck--if I did, I'd go all paranoid for breaking all the mirrors in that store!
  • All eyes were on me. It was too bad I couldn't act as confident as I did everytime I sang in the shower.
  • Howard felt like a deadweight for being so lazy all day.
  • "It can't be denied, but I can't admit to it too..."
  • If roses could talk, then what would they say?
  • "Your face...it reminded me of a shattered mirror for some reason..."
  • The dandelion seemed to fade away when the wind blew.
  • Cold, cold ice--how else would ice feel?
  • "It came to my attention that you're being lazy at work lately..."
  • "...Seriously, can't you leave me to drink my orange soda?"
  • "Could you not shatter the mirrors everytime you sing?"
  • No amount of apology or gifts would make Helga change her mind anymore.
  • The lights blared out in a way that could make anyone blind in a way.
  • ...Just then, out of nowhere, violins started playing.
  • Fish started jumping onto the boat, as if they wanted to get caught.
  • The treasure chest looked heavy when it was pulled out of the water.
  • The mirror broke, and she knew that she had did something wrong--something VERY wrong...
  • Same old, same old--but then again, I could go for a change...
  • I took the hammer and held it up, facing the mirror.
  • Watching the butterfly emerge from the chrysalis made me think--how come people find it difficult to change?
Well, that's it for now. Maybe I'll come back soon for a second batch. But if you want a challenge, then here's one: Make a story of at least 500 words (edited to 500 because Petchy said 100 was too easy :p) with one of these sentences in it.

Have fun! :)
