Death Toll - Infinite

I never heard about the tragedy in Rwanda until yesterday. I guess thats what happens when all you do for 2 years is smoke pot. But then again, maybe it wasn't all my fault. I hadn't completely turned a blind eye to the world, had I? No, of course not, it was the world that turned it's back on Rwanda. And 950,000 people died because of it. And you know what this made me think of? How politics has to do with everything. But I don't even want to get into politics and all that bullshit, but get on to the second point I realized when hearing this. I'm told that that many people die, and it takes me some time to honestly realize how many people that is. 950,000 people. Thats a million people. Who we're killed for no reason other than being themselves. This made me realize that life is the only thing that truly matters, period. Everything else that people treasure can never compare to the life or a person. Nuclear physics is not worth 1 human life. It just does not compute. Now is this to say that all beings and life-forms are good? No, not at all. I can't think that the plague was a life-form that deserves to be preserved and allowed to thrive. So then where is the line, that decides what life should be kept and what should be destroyed? Is there a higher being, a God who helps keep the un-needed and un-wanted life-forms down? Are there certain people who should be killed, either individual or entire race? This goes against the first statement though, that life is the most important thing there is. So why can't we live in balance. Watching the Matrix again also had an impact on my thinking here. I always found it strangely true how Agent Smith characterized the human race, as a virus instead of as mammals. We do destroy everything we touch, just look at the earth, basically anywhere. We destroy nature to create our own buildings, and basically make nature unable to rebuild herself. I've been wondering what would happen if people were to leave a certain area, or if everyone in one town or city where to die, what would happen? How long would it take for everything we've built to decay, to be eaten away and for the earth to put back the natural things that should be occuring there. I cannot even imagine how long this would take. More than a century? Easily. (A century is 100 years right? Well, thats how long I mean in any case). I think all the roads and buildings and all the things inside would take so long to decay and go away, that it's basically too late. The world is done, and we have no one to blame but ourselves. AND WE KEEP MAKING MORE! Have you noticed we're falling apart? We are. All over the place you see construction, rebuilding of all our roads and creations. And we build newer things around the old too. Soon we will be fixing the old, and the new, while building new. Eventually all humans will be working on keeping everything working, until there's too much. What happens then? Maybe we won't even make it this far. Basically i'm thinking minimalism is the way to go, but can a minority save this planet? Or is it too late...

And i just keep typing away, on my computer, next to my 400 cd's, new boombox, tv, etc....

A good friend of mine once said something about me that doesn't truly explain me now, but did at the time: "Your not depressed, just realistic."
