abstract/concrete identity
when pinoy pride is abstract... white supremacist, patriarchal capitalism/imperialism has stripped every other meaningful part of your identity, destroyed one's consciousness through war and 109 years of imperialist ripping away of dignity, coming to a country that hates the sight of you to the point where you have nothing left except the peaceful and acceptable parts of your culture (harmless food and dance), and making fun of your own people's accent is always funny...
the post modernists see this culture and proclaim a "global" culture (one based on speaking english and pop art).... whereas they fail to see it for what it really is... the dying of the old and the birth of the new....
out of the meaningless and repetitive and decadent culture is the birth of the new, a culture that is relevant and meaningful and liberating... the alternative culture to create pin@y pride based on the concrete expression of freedom and political power in opposition to the culture of submissiveness (beaten into you), mimicking of foreign rulers (beaten into you) or frivolous distraction (all that's allowed)....
from the ashes of a culture of self-hatred is the culture of concrete pride, a sparkle in the eyes of those building a new world, those proud of their kitchen that smells shitty and like fish, proud of a people's democracy smashing the power of those who pimp out our people around the world as cheap labor building up every country except our own, proud of our fierce militant womyn instead of having proud because of their being sex objects of white men....
