duvista and this insane sentence “She's a screamer“. Since no one stepped up to write a story about it, I had to do it on my own.
Summary: Cal and Eric get a little drunk and Eric spills the beans about his relationship with Nat. Calleigh decides to form her own opinion about that. A little trip down memory lane concerning Cal/Sofia. I took some liberties with their past concerning university. And then Calleigh invites Natalia for a weekend off.
A/N2: This story has a mind of its own. I swear to God, it isn’t my fault. This should have been a little two part story, just some crack!fic…. And now? It’s huge and becoming bigger every day. Cal and Nat demanded some actual plot. Sex wasn’t enough for them… And who am I to argue with THEM???
Thanks: As always to my wonderful beta
sofia_lindsay who did her thing even if this is NOT CM.

Calleigh took the cards and looked at Natalia. She had noticed a slight shift in the brunette's mood, but couldn't place it.
“Come on. I'll show you our room. Well rooms actually. We've got separate bedrooms. You will love this.”
She started moving towards the back entrance, trusting Natalia to follow, pointing out some perks of the hotel as they went along.
Natalia followed one step behind, but she didn't really hear what Calleigh said. She was still wrapped up in the strange feeling from before. She knew the feeling. She had experienced it before. But she would have never connected it with her friend. And now she was struggling to make sense of it.
Never taking her eyes of Calleigh she followed the blonde outside and along the beach toward the far end of the complex. What was happening? Was it possible that she was falling for Calleigh?
'Oh please, get a grip Talia. Of course you love her. She's your best friend. But that's all she is and ever will be. You've been alone for too long. Now, snap out of it. You don't wanna ruin the weekend.'
Natalia shoved her weird thoughts away just in time to hear Calleigh.
“Now look at the beach Nat. Isn't this beautiful?”
Without Natalia noticing it, they had left the main building and some small bungalows behind and were standing on the most beautiful beach Natalia had ever seen.
It looked almost like the beach from her dream; only that here were a lot more people around. Looking out to the water she saw a few bungalows built on stakes into it; only a small pier leading to each of them.
“Oh Cal this is wonderful. I had no idea that such a place existed in Florida. I thought this was only possible on some solitary island in the South Seas. Wow.”
Calleigh laughed, throwing her head back, her hair flowing around her in the process and Natalia felt her breath hitch again at the sight.
“You really like it? Well you just wait till you see the room and... Well you just wait.”
Calleigh's eyes sparkled; she had really managed to surprise Natalia in a good way.
“Yes! I really, really like it. I love it.”
“Shall we proceed then?” Calleigh held out her hand to Natalia.
The brunette just shook her head yes and grabbed the offered hand, letting herself be pulled further down the beach to the far end of the complex. With wonder she looked at their joined hands. They fit together perfectly; Calleigh's hand was a little smaller than her own and her sun-touched skin set a nice contrast to her own bronze tint. She barely noticed the beach any more, dwelling in the sight and the feeling of Calleigh's hand in hers. The blonde's hand was smooth and soft with some rough patches, calluses from her regular use of guns.
Only when the underground changed from sand to wooden planks did she notice that they were approaching their room.
She looked around and noticed that it was the last bungalow, right at the end of the complex. The sides facing the beach and the next bungalow held the usual windows, but upon entering Natalia saw that the side facing to the sea was just one big glass front. It seemed like you were sitting in the middle of the ocean.
They entered into the living area of the bungalow. Besides the big glass front that let onto a patio above the water there were two doors leading to two separate bedrooms that were connected through an adjoining bathroom.
“We have separate bedrooms, but there's only one bathroom. I hope you don't mind.”
This was one part Calleigh wasn't too sure about. Maybe she should have booked two singles to allow Natalia some privacy. But she really wanted to spend as much time as possible with Natalia this weekend and two separate rooms had meant a serious cutback on that time.
“Don't be silly. This is awesome.”
Calleigh let out the breath she had been holding.
“Great. Now what do you say. We still have a little time. We could either go for a swim, or...”
Calleigh let the sentence hanging, a little smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Natalia's thoughts were suddenly racing faster than the Thunderace; her heart skipping a beat.
'Or? Or what? She's teasing me! Yes definitely teasing. Or is she flirting? No, not possible. Teasing it is. Now would be a good time to speak Talia.'
“Uhm... swimming or?”
Calleigh saw Natalia spacing for two seconds before answering and she couldn't help but wonder what Natalia thought.
'Oh God. I flirted, didn't I? No flirting Duquesne! We don't want to freak her out. Understood? Yes, Ma'am.'
“Or I could show you something else. But we need to take a little walk in order to get there. If you're too tired I would understand.”
“No. I'm not tired at all. This is all so wonderful. If you want to show me something then I'm definitely in!” If Calleigh wanted to show her something then she wanted to see it. She wanted to know everything about Calleigh.
“Okay, let's change clothes then. I would suggest jeans, a shirt and sneakers. The path is a little rocky. We'll be back in time to take a shower before the next part of the day.”
Fifteen minutes later Natalia had inspected what clothes Calleigh had packed and changed into the clothes the blonde had suggested. When she stepped into the living room again Calleigh was already waiting for her, standing at the glass front looking out over the ocean. She stood motionless, her blond hair tamed into a loose braid, wearing a similar outfit she wore herself. She seemed to be lost in thoughts and Natalia used the opportunity to stare shamelessly at her friend wondering what was going on in her head.
The blonde looked beautiful, even in the casual clothes she was wearing.
'Oh God Cal, you're the best thing that ever happened to me, I couldn't have made it without you. And now you are doing all this incredible things for me. Shouldn't it be the other way around? But that's just who you are, isn't it? You're the best friend ever! I just wish I could show you somehow how important you are to me. Nobody ever cared this much; nobody could have made me happier.'
Calleigh had stepped out of her room expecting Natalia to need a little more time than herself. So she had stepped in front of the glass front to enjoy the view. She could never get tired of looking out over the sea. It always calmed her down, soothed her nerves, helped her fight the urge and stopped her hands from trembling.
Today was the same. She was nervous. Natalia seemed to like the weekend so far, but wasn't she pushing too hard, too fast, too far? Wasn't it kind of obvious that she felt more than just friendship for the brunette? Natalia had been a little quiet, had she noticed something? Did she suspect? Would it matter? Maybe it would make things easier if Natalia knew how she felt for her, how much she meant to her. It wasn't like she was planning on seducing her sometime during the weekend. Although Sofia had told her she should when they had spoken on the phone earlier this week. Calleigh had called Sofia to tell her of her plans for Natalia's birthday and to ask if it would be over the top. Sofia's answer hadn't calmed her nerves though. At first she had only heard Sofia's throaty chuckle and then she had asked if she was planning on getting laid. She had told her friend from Las Vegas that she was stupid and she just wanted Natalia to have a good time and that this weekend was only about Natalia and not her own wishes or dreams.
And now, she wasn't so sure about that fact herself. Wasn't she really trying to impress Natalia? To show off a little? To make her see just how great she, Calleigh really was? Maybe Sofia was right; she just knew her so well. Maybe she was trying to get laid, subconsciously. Well she could consciously be aware of that and stay in control of herself. She wouldn't let herself ruin this friendship that was just beginning to bloom!
Something reflected the sun out on the water and Calleigh blinked, crashing back into the here and now. She felt a wave of panic wash over her. How long had she been standing there? Where was Natalia? She spun around and caught Natalia just as she was looking away from her. Had she been staring? What was she thinking seeing her so spaced out for God knows how long?
“Glad to have you back. Where've you been? Somewhere nice I hope.” Natalia's voice was playful and a little teasing. Just friendly banter, like always. Calleigh sighed inwardly. Good, everything seemed to be normal then.
“I love the ocean. It always calms me down. The view is just incredible but I'll show you some place where the view is even better. You ready?”
“Sure, let's go.”
Calleigh grabbed the key card and left their room, heading towards the beach first. Natalia expected them to head towards the main building, but Calleigh led them in the other direction, towards the fence that delimited the hotel site. Behind some bushes above the beach was a door, leading off the hotel grounds. Calleigh opened the door with the card and stepped through.
The ground didn't change much on the other side, at least not at first. But after they walked for a few minutes the ground became rocky and away from the sea cliffs started to rise. The cliffs next to them were only bigger rocks but the further they walked the higher the cliffs rose above the ground. Finally Calleigh started walking towards the cliffs instead of parallel to them and Natalia could make out a winding path that climbed the cliff right in front of them.
“Why didn't you tell me to bring my climbing gear?” Natalia asked only half joking.
“It's really not as bad as it looks. As long as the weather is good the path isn't hard to climb. I'll promise you it'll be so worth it.”
Natalia only nodded and followed Calleigh onto the rocky path. Soon she found out that the blonde had been right. The path wasn't as challenging as it had seemed from the bottom and soon Natalia was enjoying the view that became better with every foot they walked higher into the cliff.
All of a sudden, at least that's what Natalia thought, Calleigh stopped.
“We're here.”
Natalia was surprised. Here where? The path was leading further climbing even higher into the cliff. But when she took a closer look she finally saw it. A door. She looked closer still and only then did it register with her that there was a light house either built into the cliff or onto the cliff. It was a tower maybe 30 feet high with the characteristic glass top and since it had the same color as the surrounding cliff it was nearly invisible up this close. Natalia gasped and looked at the blonde surprised.
“What?”
“Come on. The view from the top is spectacular.”
Since Natalia obviously wasn't going to move on her own Calleigh grabbed her hand and dragged her with her.
She pulled out a key and unlocked the door; opening it. Natalia had somehow expected that the door would screech in its hinges, but obviously the lighthouse had been taken care of; the door swung open easily and without any noise.
“Cal, that's a lighthouse. How do you have a key?”
“Come on in.” The blonde tried to drag the brunette with her, but Natalia freed her hand from her friend's hold and took a step backwards.
“I will come inside but first you tell me what this is all about. Why do you have a key to this place? And why did you bring me here? Start talking or I'll turn around and go back to our room.”
