Merry Christmas Everyone! (a day late) I thought I'd let the madness die down a bit before I actually wrote anything in here about the holiday. And what a wonderful holiday it was! Truly, I cannot remember having a better Christmas in a very long time. I was spoiled rotten, per usual, but honestly, that really wasn't as important to me this year. I didn't even get as spoiled with gifts as previous years, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. I think as we get older, those things become so less important. For me, it was all about being with the people I love. I'll sum it up with a few highlights:
*John being SO into the Christmas spirit. I can admit that in previous years, I have been a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to putting up the tree, playing the music, etc. Whether he thinks his festive mood rubbed off on me or not, it really did. And it was so nice to be around someone with such great spirits.
*The 'Awaited' Christmas show at Crossroads was amazing. I was so happy to do something like that with my family. We all had a really great time.
*My Dad's family's Christmas was more fun this year than it's ever been to me. I think because I am getting older I feel more in tune with what the adults are talking about and as my sisters and cousins are growing up, I am finding that we can have a blast together too. Plus, I broke out my amazing Wii Bowling skills and actually beat my brother at something! The gifts were very meaningful... a framed picture of that entire side of my family, a book to help me understand the Bible, a voice activated card from my sister telling me how much she loves me... I was very happy. The checks and gift cards were great too though, I must admit.
*I was so excited that John was able to come to my mom's side on Christmas Day. He is spending most of his break in Columbus, so getting to spend the holiday with him made me so happy. We both had a great time there and got some pretty sweet gifts. I was sad that I didn't get to make it to any of his family's celebrations, but I will see them all on New Year's Eve at least. He and I exchanged gifts when we got back to the apartment. His gift is still in the works... I am working on getting us tickets to the Transiberian Orchestra in Columbus, but Ticketmaster is giving me difficulties. Sooo if that doesn't pan out, he will be receiving a belated Christmas gift. Also, I got him a slapchop. He was pretty excited about that. His present to me was sooo sweet. He didn't have a lot of money this year, so he took one of the tiny strip photos we got at the photobooth at 'Awaited' and drew a larger version of it that he is going to frame. It is SO good. I had no idea he could draw like that! It really meant a lot to me that he put in so much time and effort though... I know it took him a long time.
It was really just such a meaningful holiday. I couldn't be happier and I feel so blessed. My sisters are planning on coming over on Sunday to spend the day with me... definitely excited about spending some time with them while they are on their Christmas break. Ah, I'm just in a great mood. In 4 1/2 hours I will be off work again for three days and I might just use that time to relax a bit. Last weekend was crazy (but extremely fun) with Courtney and Charlie being in town and next weekend I will be in Columbus for New Year's. I think a little relaxation is definitely in order for this lady.
Speaking of New Year's.... I'm running out of time to think of my resolutions. I reeeeeeaaaaaallllllly want to make some and stick to them this time. I know I probably say that every year, but I mean it dangit! Amidst the relaxation this weekend I am going to brainstorm for sure. Have a great holiday week!
XoXo,
Stefanie
