It's funny how we will probably fondly look back at certain websites in 20 years like a good book, except books don't keep transforming themselves, or get wiped out by laziness or forgetting to pay for your domain name. It's as though they're books in the process or pure potential.
Are websites like books we love to peruse again and again, or are they like shops we can visit, and get renovated into something we like or dislike every 6 months? Scary to think that at some point, Solid Sharkey might not be around on the internet anymore if he ever decided to just stop keeping the site up. I am annoyed however when I can't get ot some of Sharkey's old material from his page, just because he decided to take it down. Who's property is this stuff anyones sometimes I wonder.
Makes me wonder if there should be an internet library of sorts for sites we love, but then the question is at which point do we preserve it, when sites change so constantly?
