Coffee Shop Talk
Some people should not be allowed to be in a position of power. I was at the coffee shop next to my college waiting to order my food. A woman who appeared at the counter after me proceeded to place her order. Now, this particular coffee shop offers set meals at certain periods of the day, they have breakfast sets, tea time sets and dinner sets. When you order from the special menu, you get a choice of food and drink from a wide selection on the menu. The prices are quite a fair bit cheaper than ordering the items separately from the regular menu.
This woman went on to order her meal for herself and her companion. Let me say first that the server was a Nepalese man whose command of English wasn't that good. Whenever she ordered an item of food, he would ask her what choice of drink she wanted with the said item of food. Needless to say, she got very upset with the poor man who was only carrying out his duty as instructed by the managers of the coffee shop. She had ordered one breakfast set with the choice of cold cocoa drink, another breakfast set she had wanted with warm water (which is not included in the set menu) and she had also wanted two sets of tuna toast to takeaway ( the menu is for dine-in only). The server told that water was not available ( my guess was that he wanted to tell her that it is not included in the set menu but he wasn't very proficient in English), so she ordered another cold cocoa. When he asked her what drink she wanted with the toast sets, she indicated that she did not want any. It kinda threw him off ( like I said, the meals come with drinks and he should have just told her about the regular menu but the language barrier again).
When the manager came over to check on the cash register machine, she asked him if they served water, of which he acknowledged that they did. She paid for the food and left with a huff...I suppose she went to complain about the matter to her companion.
Mean of me to say this but small minded people make the worst people in power. They do not know the meaning of humility nor are they sympathetic to others....
