A/N: Jay's Nothing on you cover played on my ipod and I had the urge to do a short jaysica. one of my favorite 9PM pairings.
Jessica pulls out her phone from her pocket as she flopped down on her bed. She pressed the same speed-dial button she presses every night and waited for the call to be answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi."
Her day just finished at 2am in the morning and honestly, she was dead tired. But hearing the familiar voice never fails to soothe her.
"What time is it there?"
"2am."
"You just finished your schedule?"
"Yeah." Jessica breathes out.
"You should rest."
Jessica doesn't answer. She holds on the phone with two hands and rolled to her side to face the wall. She closed her eyes, hearing the faint breathing on the other line.
"Jessica."
A faint smile made its way to her lips. She loves the way he says his name. Smooth and soft. Calming and soothing.
"Jessica.", she hears her name again.
"Jay."
Jessica has always liked his English name more than the Korean that he used to use. she loves the way it rolls of her tongue.
"Aren't you tired?" The question was laced with worry.
"I am."
"You don't have to call me everynight, Jessica." He says. Again. He says it every time she calls at 2 or 3am, depending on what time her schedule finishes. "I'll get by. You don't have to tire yourself out more for me."
"I don't want you to get by without me, actually." Jessica whispers with a smile on her face. Cause she knows that he's probably smiling too. "And calling you isn't tiring."
He chuckles and Jessica felt butterflies. "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing good. You know, the usual. Everyday is tiring but I'm having fun with my girls." Jessica states. She's never as detailed to anyone as she is to him. When she's talking to hime, Jessica likes to make her sentences usually composed of 3 words much longer. Because the more she talks, the longer their talk would be.
"Good to know your having fun with the girls." He responds. Jessica could imagine his smile and clearly hears the amusement in his voice.
"How about you? Having fun with the girls?" Jessica asks playfully with a grin.
He laughs at her joke and Jessica feels the butterflies multiply. "Nah, you know me. I'm having fun with the boys."
They settled for a little bit of silence. None speaking. Jessica fears that their call is coming to an end already. Silence is always the start of their phone goodbyes. But she was proved wrong when she heard a soft voice from the other line.
"How are my boys there?"
"They're fine." Jessica answered with equal softness. "I talked to Wooyoung today, we came across each other. Said He's fine and the others are fine. Told me to tell you to buy their album." she finished with a giggle.
He laughs too. "I already did."
Jessica smiles. She liked the bond his group have. It's the same as their soshi bond. Strong and firm.
"Jay," Jessica whispers after another moment of silent.
"Yeah?"
"I trust you, you know." Her hold on the phone tightened. "Even though you're half-way around the world from me. Even though I can't see you. Even though you've been gone." she whispered the last part in a soft and gentle tone. "I trust you."
He stays silent for a moment. Jessica hears nothing but his breath. She thinks that they're breathing different air now. He's breathing the Seattle air and Jessica is breathing the Seoul air. She smiled. how silly can she get. Of course they're still breathing the same air.
"I know." He whispered back. "I trust you too."
They fell into silence again. And Jessica heard a few warning beeps. Her phone was dying.
"Jay."
"Jessica."
"My battery is out." her tone was regretful and quiet.
"It's okay." And his tone was understanding. Of course he'll understand. He's been through what Jessica is still going through.
Jessica's clasp on the beeping device tightened. "Jay?"
"Yeah?"
"I miss you."
He breathes out. It calmed Jessica. "I miss you too."
"I gotta go now." Jessica licked her lips. she rolls on her back and stared at the ceiling.
"Okay. Rest well."
"Yeah... I'll talk to you tonight again."
Jessica heard nothing more as the her phone died on her. she threw the now useless device somewhere on her bed and pulls a pillow to her to hug. She buried her face on the soft thing and gently breathes out as she waits for the day to start again in a few hours and to end by dawn so she could hear the voice she loves so much from half-way around the world.
