We were on the radio!

Here's a clip from Outside the Loop, a radio show on 88.7fm that focuses on Chicago's local scene. This particular clip is from the airing on Christmas Eve at 10:00am. Hosted by Mike Stephen.

I didn't get to hear the original broadcast because I was teaching a class at WAC, but Adam and his co-workers tuned in and got to share in the excitement. I have to admit that as I stood in the living room and heard "Chicago's own A Sample Life," I really did start to jump up and down like Liv Tyler in That Thing You Do when she was mailing the letters and suddenly heard The Wonders on the radio.....if only we had a washing machine/appliance store to run around during our first airtime experience.

Our show at Martyrs' on Dec 17 went extremely well. Adam's family was all able to come, Carrie and Rachel came (my loyal roommates/friends....I love them), Matt, his friend, and Dan came, and someone from Adam's work came. The rest of the audience was made up of fans of Nate and His Kite or Black Umbrella Brigade and are now our new "friends," future fans. It was so wonderful to have met everyone and to have felt their energy as we performed. It was our best show to date, and I can't wait to get back up there on Jan 22. It's amazing how the comfort of the stage comes rushing back with more and more ease each time we get up there. I can't wait to see the video when we get it back from Adam's bro. We even had a photographer present (Adam's friend Britton), snapping shots the whole time. That added to the heightened onstage energy, too.

I hope someday my family can see me perform again. That's really part of the reason why I want to tour.

Classes are picking up, and money is picking back up. Thankfully, my choice to stay in Chicago for Christmas was a profitable one for my bank and for me. I kept my sanity away from holiday travel. And I started a new tradition that consists of being kissed by Adam after every tear of the wrapping paper.
