Another update!

Okay - so the English contigent left last night for Darwin - they officially leave the country on the 12th. We took them to the airport for their flight - and guess who failed the security scanners. Despite my telling the twit behind the scanner that it was my watch that set it off - he insisted that I remove my shoes first. Great. So I removed them, when through the magic door and lo and behold, it beeped again. This time I took my watch off, threw it at the guard, walked through the gate AGAIN and what do you know?? It didn't go off! I smiled at the guard and put my shoes on (and the best bit was they were pretty stinky ;) )

Classic Lines from the Relatives
1. Aunty Cheryl - "Can I have a chardonnay please?"
Barman - "Certainly. Cask or bottle?"
Aunty Cheryl - "No, in a glass thanks."

2. Uncle Mick after misplacing some money and finding it in his pocket - "I'm having a senior moment"

3. My cousin Rachael after discovering that my grandmother's parents were second cousins. - "Well, that explains a lot"

4. My cousin Rachael after discovering that whilst she and I are full cousins, Michael, Joanne and Karen are only our half cousins. "Wait - you mean Nana married twice?" (Nana married twice - my half aunt has a half sister 6 months older than her, and one 6 months younger - my mother and Rachael's father are the result of the second marriage.)

5. My cousin Rachael - "Wait - what's my brother's name again?"

Speaking of that end of the family, I really became upset with them yet again. I just don't understand why they treat Nana the way they do. They're supposed to be christians .. but it seems they worship money more than anything. Rachael upset me when she told Nana that she was too busy to visit her. I mean - Nana is 90 and very ill - but they don't want anything to do with her. They don't take her out, they don't call her - and yet Nana thinks they're fucking marvellous. It hurts me to a degree as well, because I could have graduated this year if I didn't take the time out to care for Nana. If they shared the load a little, then I wouldn't have had to give up the time I have. I don't mind graduating next year, but it's just a sore spot with me. They visit Aunty Joy's father - who has dementia and doesn't know them from a bar of soap - yet Nana - who has all her facilities about her and is a funny, intelligent and interesting woman gets neglected.
Rachael didn't even bother hiding her motivations. She stated outright that she didn't see enough of Nana (to which my father turned around and said 'Nothing's stopping you coming over for a meal or stopping in every now and then'), but then proceeded to say how much money she'd earn because she's doing all this studying. I mean, that is so selfish. She's supposed to be a fucking Christian - scuse the language - yet all she thinks about is money. This is the same person I tried to get a job for - and was told not to bother by her parents, because they just give her everything she wants and support her. I am so pissed at that whole family.

I walked out vowing never to go to that house again, and I want nothing further to do with them. If they want to treat my Nana like shit, then so be it. Just don't do it in my presence again - because I will beat the living fuck out of them. She deserves better than that. She's an amazing, funny and wonderful woman and they have no right to treat her with anything less than respect and love.

(sorry bout the rant - I need to get it off my chest)
