He said the way my blue eyes shined
Put those Georgia stars to shame that night
I said: "That's a lie."
Just a boy in a Chevy truck
That had a tendency of gettin' stuck
On backroads at night
And I was right there beside him all summer long
And then the time we woke up to find that summer gone.
- "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift
Hearing this song makes me so sad because all I can think of is that boy, who used to tell me that my blue eyes . . . were, more beautiful than any sapphire could hope to be, and then he started to sing Fast Cars and Freedom by Rascal Flats. So that's another song that breaks my heart for no other reason than that I can't forget the way I used to smile and for a few months let those smiles reach my blue eyes, believe me I've had a few smiles since those days, but not those smiles. Not the ones that bring a tear to your eyes when you remember how happy you were and the tendency to stop whatever your doing to close your eyes when you hear your song and remember let your heart soar with the beauty of that time. I want more of those moments.
And memories like a coat so warm
A cold wind can't get through
Lookin' at me now you might not know it
But I've had my moments.
