If there is something I feel extremely passionate about as far as religion, it's my extreme dislike for lying preachers. (i.e. Joel Osteen)
I can't stand the fact that he has a church full of 30,000 people that he lies to every week, and not only are they the ones who are forced to hear this heretical teaching, but he's televised.
Why are people so scared of the truth?
The truth of who God is and what He's done, when understood, is so much more freeing than the crap that comes out of preachers like Joel Osteens mouth everyday.
For example, his book is called "Your Best Life Now". Ummm, hey Joel... this right now had better not be my best life, my best life is going to be when I'm gone from this earth and I'm in eternity with my Savior. The title of that book alone directly contradicts scripture:
Whoever loves his life will lose it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
John 12:25
This isn't meant to be our "best life"... the Bible tells us that we are going to be scorned, insulted, and persecuted for the sake of Christ. You can't sacrifice the true Gospel for the sake of a mega church, and money, and publicity. Preachers like Osteen I believe hurt the Christian church more than they help it, because they are presenting a false Gospel which will leave people empty, and resenting the church. If you tell people that they will receive rewards if they have the "favor of God" (yes that's actually what he says), you're going to create a "christian" that as soon as something bad happens, doesn't have the knowledge or the foundation to rely on God, but will instead blame God for not resting his "favor" upon them.
The TRUE Gospel is so much more beautiful and incredible than any amount of prosperity these people can follow. We are bags of dirt, not worh anything... but in dying for our sins, Christ made us worthy.
I'd rather hear that any day than "this is my Bible it is what i say it is and it does what it says it does and I will never ever never ever ever ever be the same again"
I pray that these "preachers" open up those Bibles and read the truth for what it is.
