today has been one of those really great days.
today is my roommate's 22nd birthday. emily and i got up super early this morning to get cinnamon rolls from ann sathers and fruit, bacon, and champagne from the grocery store. however we couldn't get the champagne because of a state law that says you can't buy alcohol on a sunday morning before 11:00am. who knew?..
anyway, so we spent the morning making breakfast together. ang woke up half-way through our preparations, so she helped. then her boyfriend came over and we enjoyed an amazing breakfast. so colorful. so pretty. and we just sat and talked for a couple hours until her parents and sister came. and then we sat for a couple more hours just drinking coffee and telling funny stories and watching ang open up her presents. it was so perfect.
i hate how moments like these are so few and far between; the ones where you can just be content with the simple things. there was no need for the tv, we had each other to do the entertaining. i love that. i wish experienced that more often.
even last night we went out for dinner to el mariachi with some friends. we were there for four hours. we closed the place down and had a blast. again, simple conversation. that's all you need for a good time.
i hate how i get so distracted by life sometimes. take this blog for instance. for the past 5 years i've used it to chronicle my life, and yet i haven't written anything in 13 weeks, not because i haven't wanted to, but because i've been too busy with other things. i'd much rather veg out watching tv than spending an hour or so writing on here. and i've really needed to write about things. i don't want to go in to too much detail right now, maybe later, but i want to write on here like i used to so that in 10 years i can look back and remember a certain event or funny story or how i felt about a certain situation.
i need to embrace the simple things again. life is too short to not sit in the sun with a cup of coffee and enjoy the snow covered street outside. i'm going to do that right now..
