In the last few days I've posted some Maelstrom LRP related fiction to the
lrpdrabbles community, and I'm reposting a couple of these here now because I'm rather proud of them and want to show them off to a wider community.
The first was written as a result of a random challenge by
cybertrixx, and relates to something that happened at an event. Since I cannot reveal any details, it is of necessity cryptic ...
The Dilemma
Fergal woke up, remembering just what he had learned last night, and what he had been told to keep to himself. He knew it was wrong and would be divisive, but what option did he have?
What indeed. But things could not stand as they were, that was crystal clear. If they were to, the damage would be very severe, and possibly even irreparable. He had to chart a middle course between following his orders and doing the right thing. Never easy. The trick, he decided, was to find some way of saying both nothing and everything ...
The second was written in response to
oxfordgirl's "What would your character's heart's desire be?" challenge to the community ...
Sails well-rigged, catching a fair wind and driving the ship onward. The afternoon sunlight being caught and scattered, dancing, atop the waves and catching droplets thrown aside as the bow slices cleanly through the sea. The gentle susurration of water against the hull. The creak of timbers as the ship moves with the ocean and adjusts, becoming part of it. The calls of crew who know they are the ones keeping the ship trim and take pride and joy in their tasks. A friendly port not too far off, but not yet in sight.
This is where Fergal's heart lies.
