shit people, give me some music. lately i've been scanning the ipod forever trying to find something to listen to. currently i've got 4624 songs, 371 albums, and 299 artists, obviously with some downloads and whatnot. but i can't find shit to listen to. so if anyone has anything they're really digging right now, i'm open to check it out. cause i knead knew music. or something.
earlier today i came up with the idea for one hell of a sweet mixtape. okay lets be real, no one, and i mean no one, wants/has ever received a mixtape from me. so i guess i should correctly say 'itunes mix'. whatev. anyway, though i'm sure someone has done it before, i've never heard of it. what i'm going to do is make the ultimate album. i'll stick with songs, in their actual album track order, and make an album worth of mix. thats confusing. so what i'd do is pick out my favorite first song on an album, put it in the mix. then i'd pick my favorite track 2 on an album, and put it in the mix, and so on. the end result will be an amalgam of various albums, all combining to make the coolest album ever. because an itunes parameter is track number, i can sort songs by track number. i then pick my favorite of the track 1's, favorite of track 2's... it's actually way harder than it sounds. because you're asking me to pick an opening song and skip over twenty others that i love. track 2 was easy enough, because i knew i'd pick "simple twist of fate" off of bob dylan's blood on the tracks.
the other caveat is that an artist can only appear once. because i could just select several whole albums. and i dont want one artist overpowering the mix. so bob, that's all you get. no "subterranean homesick blues", no "i want you", no "outlaw blues", no "lily, rosemary and the jack of hearts", no "visions of johanna", no "tangled up in blue", no "it's alright ma, i'm only bleeding", no "talking world war III blues", no "masters of war". shit. those are just ones off the top of my head that i'd like to hear there. jesus. the big conundrum is between tangled up in blue and i want you. i fucking love those songs.
i can see i'll be abandoning this because it's too hard. i was really toying with "appel indirect" by django reinhardt for the opener. i dont know. the other caveat is that they have to be from the original album. no greatest hits, compilations, or single downloads. i have to own the album. i dont know.
today i went trail running forever. it was awesome. i was un-windable. windable as in shortness of breath, not coiling. so i guess i'm still in pretty good shape. i'm running a marathon in a month so i have to be. maybe not.
