This is a league filled with my old co-workers at DOJ-AntiTrust. You'd think a league filled with attorneys and economists would have some intelligent folks.
Okay, so I made a few mistakes in my draft. One, was selecting Carl Crawford instead of Carlos Beltran. Didn't matter since I got Beltran on the wrap. The second was selecting Dave Roberts but the computer told me I picked up Gagne. Bummer.
The strategy I have with this follows my famous (infamous?) SOUP/HIMA strategy. To follow HIMA means that I am punting saves.
SOUP = Star Outfielders Upside Prospects
HIMA = High Investment Mound Aces
Standard 5x5 Roto H2H league. 10 teams. No innings min/max. Streaming not allowed. No set limitation on pitchers ( I could have 9 starters or 9 relievers. 2 catchers, 1 corner, 1 mid and standard other positions.
So here's the team:
C1 Ramon Hernandez (last good upside catcher)
C2 Chris Iannetta (Javy is there for show)
1B Adrian Gonzalez (I wanted to anchor 1B with him, so I waited
2B Chris Burke (I got alot of flak for this 21st rounder)
3B Aubrey Huff (I'll get decent stats here)
SS Bill Hall (picked 5 rounds after Jeter)
OF Carl Crawford (Speed, BA, Runs)
OF Carlos Beltran (Anchors OF, 5 cat wonder)
OF Andruw Jones (Makes up for Crawford's shortcomings
OF Carlos Quentin (Upside)
OF Kenny Lofton (30 steals, 100 runs, 25th pick)
2B/SS Jhonny Peralta(hoping for a bounceback)
1B/3B Conor Jackson (Upside)
UTIL Placido Polanco (Could do better here
