...we won a Hugo for Weird Tales.
A few additional thoughts:
1. We thanked a lot of people onstage, but in the rush to finish, we didn't manage to thank one very, very important, albeit long-deceased, group: Jacob Clark Henneberger and Farnsworth Wright and H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard and Margaret Brundage and Virgil Finlay and Clark Ashton Smith and Catherine E. Moore and all the other members of Weird Tales's golden age who did the heavy lifting for this award seventy-five years ago, before the Hugos existed. O spirits of the great ones, we are humbled to be taking home your trophy.
2. Rarely have I met a more charming and thoughtful individual than
Locus's new editor Liza Groen Trombi, whose sincere, heartfelt congratulations absolutely made my day.
3. Ann VanderMeer has, over the past two decades - quietly, unassumingly - become one of the most brilliant editors in speculative fiction. To see her suddenly win the Hugo Award the same week she was named a World Fantasy Award finalist
in two different categories makes me very, very happy. It is a delight and an honor to work with her.
