So for the first time in a long time I've actually enjoyed myself while doing schoolwork. The following is a synopsis for a feature length film I had to write for class.
Synopsis of Mario Kart: A Live Action Crime Drama
The movie is set in a live-action rendition of the videogame world of Mario Kart. In the beginning Bowser’s henchman, Magikoopa, quietly kidnaps Princess Peach while she is watching a Kart Race taking place in front of her castle from her private booth. At the end of the race everyone waits for her to come down and give out the trophies. This is when Mario finds a note left on Peach’s seat. It is addressed to him and tells him that if he doesn’t deliver his gold-plated, 500cc, MX800 SuperKart to Bowser’s Car Lot in 3 days, Peach will be killed. Mario can’t contact the police for help because he knows that the Goombas are all on Bowser’s payroll, so he takes matters into his own hands, with the help of his brother Luigi, a fellow plumber and auto-enthusiast.
Day 1: Mario and Luigi head over to the fat albino, Boo’s, mansion, since Boo is a known affiliate of Bowser. They drive in through an open gate, which then closes behind them. Boo’s henchmen, gaunt, almost skeletal, men who call themselves Dry Bones, surround Mario and Luigi’s Karts in their own Karts. After a dramatic Kart battle with the Dry Bones, Boo’s garage opens up and he pulls out in his much more menacing Kart. After they battle Boo is laying in the flaming wreckage of his Kart. Mario walks up to the wreckage and interrogates Boo for information; Boo tells him that all he knows is Bowser used Magikoopa to do the job and Magikoopa could usually be found in the fish market at Delfino Plaza. Mario then proceeds to step on Boo’s forehead and suffocate him with the business end of his plunger.
Day 2: The next day, Mario and Luigi drive over to Delfino Plaza. They troll the streets searching for the hooded figure of Magikoopa, when suddenly they spot him about 10 kart-lengths in front of them, but he spots them too and he hails a TaxiKart. Magikoopa pulls out his gun, which he calls Bullet Bill, kills the driver, and slides across the front seat, pushing the body out the driver’s door. A high speed pursuit follows on the Mushroom Highway, with Mario and Luigi chasing Magikoopa in the stolen kart. Luigi maneuvers up to Magikoopa’s side to try to spin him, but Magikoopa pulls out Bullet Bill and fires a shot into Luigi’s front tire. Luigi slides sideways into the cliff’s side, and Mario skids to a stop as Magikoopa races off. Mario rushes to Luigi’s aid, but it’s too late. As Luigi slips away he tells Mario that he saw a piece of paper fall out of Magikoopa’s robe as he pulled his wand, it must be somewhere back on the road.
Mario spends the night mourning his dead brother while searching for a slip of paper by flashlight. He eventually finds it, and picks it up to read it. It’s from Bowser and it says “My castle guards are too incompetent to be trusted watching over Peach, you need to come here to watch over her personally.” Mario goes home to get some sleep and plan for the next day’s raid on the castle.
Day 3: Mario goes into the sewers by Bowser’s Castle, where he sabotages their plumbing. He then waits a little while until he sees a plumber coming up the road and stops the car. He knocks the other plumber out with a wrench and ties his body up in the back of the van. With his new disguised vehicle he drives right into the Castle to “fix their plumbing.” After scouring the castle he finds a stairwell to the dungeons. He peeks through a doorway where Magikoopa is walking the hallway. Mario knows he can’t take on Magikoopa unless he gets him by surprise. Mario bursts through the door with a Drain-O soaked rag and tries to hold it to Magikoopa’s mouth. Magikoopa breaks Mario’s hold on him, but not before inhaling enough Drain-O to disorient him. Magikoopa reached for Bullet Bill, but Mario is able to smack it out of his hands as a shot is fired. A struggle ensues, and ends with Mario shooting Magikoopa. Alerted by the gunshots several of Bowser’s henchmen, The Koopas, come into the hallway. Mario shoots three of them before he runs out of ammo and is knocked out.
Mario wakes up on the floor in front of Bowser. Bowser shows Mario his indoor kart-racing track, where Mario gets an idea to save Princess. Mario offers to race Bowser for Princess’s freedom, but if Bowser wins he will get Mario’s gold-plated, 500cc, MX800 SuperKart and a dinosaur egg from a Yoshi. Bowser agrees to the race on the terms that it takes place after a meal. At dinner we see Bowser’s men put a hallucinogen into Mario’s wine.
The race begins with Mario taking a strong lead as they fly over lava pits and past moving walls. But soon Mario begins feeling the effects of the drug. He starts seeing things in rainbow colors and is able to see nothing beyond the racetrack. Bowser slams Mario into a wall as he whizzes past. Mario keeps driving, gradually acclimating to the effects of the drug, as he speeds down a “rainbow road.” As Mario approaches Bowser and the finish, Bowser lets out an oil spill from his car. Mario hits it and skids sideways actually rear ending Bowser’s kart. As they skid together Mario grabs his pipe cutter, quickly tightens it onto Bowser’s axle, and spins it as Bowser pulls away. Bowser’s axle splits in two and Mario straightens out to take the lead and win the race. Bowser, being a man of his word, lets them go.
Mario drops the princess off at her castle. As he goes to pull away he is stopped by her royal guard, “The Toads.” He is wanted for questioning in relation the deaths of Boo and Luigi. The movie ends with Mario being cuffed.
