I'm afraid that is impossible. My wife is deceased.

No that's not what I meant. You see...this place when it kidnaps you, it puts you into 'families', you know, to make everything seem normal. Placement is pretty random. She's the 'wife' and you're the husband if you woke up next to her.

"This place"?

I'm gettin' ahead of myself aren't I. This is Mayfield, a town based in 1950's stereotypical America. You know, the whole two parents, two kids, a dog and a white picket fence type deal. Anyways, this town takes us, and puts us into roles, with jobs, and wives and school and shit.

And then it likes to throw temper tantrums and try and kill us.

You... surely you have to understand that that sounds like lunacy. Not that stranger things haven't happened to me, of course.

Yeah, I know. Hell I don't believe half of it either, but I've seen it. We all have. We're tryin' to get home but so far nothing has worked.

So. From what you're saying, I've... somehow? Been kidnapped and taken to this town in America that believes it is the 1950's.

Is that correct?

Yup. Oh yeah, before I forget, there's some people here called 'drones', they're the ones who are sorta native to this place. You know, they smile, talk about the weather, and think that you've been here your whole life.

This is all quite a bit to take in. You mean to say these people are... brainwashed? Or are they in on the act?

Reply

weiss_tank August 22 2010, 03:37:47 UTC
Brainwashed for the most part. You see, when you do things the town doesn't like, it makes you like the drones for a little while...and sometimes it doesn't wear off.

"The town" does this? How? I really don't understand. This is starting to make even less sense than DW.

Now that's an accomplishment weiss_tank August 22 2010, 03:41:56 UTC
It's ok. We don't know what forces are at work doin' all this.

I assume we're trapped here.

So proud. weiss_tank August 22 2010, 03:51:09 UTC
Pretty much. You try and leave town and it just turns you right back in again, like a weird ass warp thing.

It warps reality? I suppose it's simpler than poison collars...
