Putting things in perspective, there hasn`t been a 'flu pandemic for a long time and I'm amazed it's taken this long for one to appear. Viruses have been around a lot longer than us and will be here a long time after. A Virion may never get to play WoW or enjoy an opera, but it's guaranteed that it's progeny will outlast us.

The media are loving having another big story that helps sell papers and get the viewing figures up - makes a change from financial misery I suppose.

I could get hit by a bus tomorrow or blown up by a random terrorist, but I'm not going to let the prospect of that make me miserable any more than the remote chance of catching this particular 'flu strain and turning my toes up.

519 confirmed cases? 4,295+ suspected cases? 13 Confirmed deaths? 168 suspected deaths?
