I spent most of today at the new annexe of the Air and Space Museum. More accurately, I spent a lot more time on public transport, first getting to the annexe, then back to the other museums, then out to the venue for the Joan Baez and Indigo Girls concert, then back to the hostel. But I did spend a few hours at the Uzdar-Hazy annexe, which I hadn't seen before (meant to see it last time I was in DC, but had to spend a day retrieving a lost suitcase instead). It was worth seeing once - has one space shuttle, a rocket belt, and some interesting aircraft. Paid a brief visit to the Natural History Museum, mainly to see some of their Burgess Shale stuff before heading out to see the Burgess Shale next month, and was pleased to see that they're updating their displays with the new, more accurate dates for the beginnings and ends of the eras, though this is clearly a work in progress. Not much new stuff in the Air and Space Museum except for Spaceship One, but I always like to drop in there to touch the moonrock.
I'm sitting in the kitchen of the hostel (which I'm glad they keep open this late, unlike many other hostels), waiting for a shuttle to the airport for a 6.20 am flight - which means leaving here at 3.30am, because the airports are so far from town that you almost need a plane to get there.
Photos tomorrow.
