Comedy highlight of the day

The anti-piracy message on the DVD I was watching compared the experience of watching a legal DVD and a dodgy pirate DVD (without mentioning that one of the things that makes watching legal DVDs less attractive is the bloody annoying anti-piracy messages). It compared the video and sound quality of legal DVD with the pirate by showing clips from Die Hard 4.0, but any credibility it might have had was blown out of the water by the VO intoning that the legal version "made sense" while showing the hilariously unbelievable scene where Bruce Willis as McClane is pitted against an F22 Raptor. I laughed so hard at the sheer incongruity that I almost had an asthma attack.

As anti-piracy messages go, it rivals the one I saw recently where we were thanked for going into a cinema, because this helped fund Housos vs. Authority. I managed to resist the urge to go home and start torrenting Australian movies (even the ones I already owned on perfectly legal DVDs), but believe me, that took willpower.

dvds, movies, piracy
