Pretty weird rock of the day: Stringy Moss Agate

May 13, 2012 17:32

Stringy Moss Agate from Lake Bonneville Idaho is odd-looking stuff. Definitely a candidate for weird microscopic life, or perhaps something you'd find around a geothermal vent deep in the ocean.

I'm not sure if any of these shots will be usable, as it's translucent and very 3 dimensional stuff i.e. hard to get much of it in focus.

I'll go back with a slide cover one day and see if I can get sharper images.

microscope, rocks
