Horsies!

Was very pleased today to receive a Riding for the Disabled (RDA) newsletter with some dates for the new term.

Things start in much earlier than I had anticipated, with the horses arriving back in the stables next week. There's a busy bee on the 8th of Feb, for which I will not begin to pretend that I could be of practical use. However, there's a dental clinic on the following day needing horse handlers which seems more my pace. Soothing the savage beasts and all. One might have an interesting time catching the savage beasts first after their Summer of leisure :-)

I was forced to concede that today would not have been a day I could have gone to the stables, let alone be of assistance. Mostly weakness and fibro fog, with the most traditional of joint pains in the left knee. It pains me to think that the mere weather pains me so.

Ordinary lessons resume on Feb 15th and I hope to make a few appearances in the afternoons to help prep for the last lesson and put stuff away. Someone has to do it :-) Also: scritches! This year I'll be less shy about making flying visits for gratuitous personal horse contact.

It would be nice if I could mount up some time this year, but I'm not going to put any sort of pressure on myself to do so. Not much point if the experience is just going to cause pain, and right now I've all the pain I can handle on my own two feet. But yes, it would be nice.

Coming soon: shovelling shit, opening gates, and collecting fly veils!
