Here's hoping for Act II

May 27, 2010 17:04

Today started well: up early, fed, bathed, dressed. Confidence was high that I'd be going to work. All I had to do was kill half an hour to let the traffic subside, particularly as the radio warned that the freeway was a carpark due to the weather.

So, all dressed up including coat and scarf, I got foolishly warm and comfortable and instantly fell asleep. And there pretty much went my day. All my reboot efforts were to no avail; I either couldn't move at all, staggered about and lurched into walls, or clung to various unhappy parts of my anatomy. And failed to fight off the cats.

In hindsight I should have made a better attempt at keeping myself busy/awake, but it's not a problem I usually encounter, at least not with such resounding failure. I was awake, rearing to go, then BANG, not. This is the way of things for me, but it felt like a bit of a tease this time. Coffee taketh away :-(

However: if Husband survives a rescue training day at work, a short big band gig this evening, and then the trip home (following on from yesterday's day of tours, similar short big band gig plus other big band rehearsal) then we're off to see John Robertson's A Nifty History of Evil tonight at the Astor. Maybe the weather will make parking easier than usual, but we're erring on the side of caution so we might be killing time at Planet Everything before the show.
