For clarity?

I had access this morning. It was fast, it was pretty. It started off slowly. It is gone now. I'm posting this entry from the desktop. The previous was from the laptop.

I do not currently have the Medical transcription software on the computer. I'm using the old router, as I could not get the new one to configure. I seem to be able to use my laptop in the morning, but not in the afternoon, or at night.

This would suggest interference to the channel for the router/laptops/Wii in the living room. My old laptop will not access the internet either. That one also had the Transcription software on it. I refuse to install it on the desktop. The desktop has never lost connection.

I spent much time on the phone with Dell yesterday, and their solution is to take my computer back to factory settings. I am loathe to do this, but if it helps, it helps. I already have everything backed up. They're calling later, to "assist" with this. *eyeroll*

With all this information, does anyone have a slightly better idea of what might be the problem? It's like the software is somehow rewriting my internet connection settings? Something sure is.

Now: Before you all start with repeated suggestions: I have tried the following:

I have removed all the network connections, and created a new profile (repeatedly).
I have disabled the firewall, and done same.
I have done the above after resetting the modem and the router, multiple times.
I have run a virus scan.
I would have run a registry cleaner, but apparently the Dell doesn't have one standard, and as I can't access the Net right now, I cannot get one. WTF, right?

Is no worky. Is driving me batty.
