I hate Gatorade.

I failed to mention in my last post, that I was up at such an ungodly hour (wee hours of Wednesday night/Thursday morning) because I had become quite ill. I don't like to talk about being sick until it's over really. Unless you're my mom, then you are subjected to play-by-play updates.

Starting Monday evening, I got an awful head cold, which is annoying but can be easily worked around granted you get your little butt in bed at a reasonable hour. That can prove near impossible for me, but on Tuesday night, it happened...sorta. I went to bed at 10 p.m. and slept all the way until 4 a.m. STRAIGHT THROUGH. That's six hours. I considered it an amazing victory, and so did my body because as I made my way to work Wednesday lunch, the head cold seemed to only be manifesting as a watery eye.

I was in a great mood on Wednesday at work. I made a good amount of money, and I had a lot of fun. I barely noticed the increasingly more painful stomach cramps building in my abdomen. When I got off at 4 p.m., the sun was shining and it was somewhere in the 40 degree area. I decided rather than a 10 minute bus ride, I'd take a pleasant 25 minute walk. I made some phone calls and enjoyed the warmth, all the while just assuming my stomach was hungry or something.

When I arrived home, I continued to talk on the phone, but I had to lay down because my stomach hurt so badly. Then after a while I had to get off the phone it hurt so much. By about 5:15 p.m. I decided to just sleep for a bit. I woke up an hour later to Nathan coming home, and I felt awful. I then had an emergency trip to the bathroom. One of about 15 I'd have that night. For the next 3 and a half I did nothing but sleep and go to the bathroom. Oh and somewhere in the middle of all this, the head cold returned with a vengence.

The only nutrition I had was in the form of saltine crackers and Gatorade. I hate Gatorade, it's yucky flavored and just chock full of high-fructose corn syrup. Yet, it was all I could eat to keep me from becoming severely dehydrated.

Yesterday, Sunday, in the evening, things started to feel better. Last night, I went to bed about 10 p.m., and slept through until 6 a.m. Things seem to be working semi-normal. Though I am not pushing it. Today I am only eating a few simple foods in addition to my Gatorade and crackers. I am not allowed to eat dairy, fruit, alcohol, or spicy food for the next three days, which sucks because that's ALL I EAT.

I might also shower and leave the house, but we'll see. I can't even start to think about how much money I lost not working these past four days. UGH.

The only good thing to come from all of this is that I lost a fair bit of weight these past days. I mean it's weight that will come back when I can eat again, but oh well. It's still fun to think that if it doesn't come back, I will only have 5 pounds until my goal. I told you last 10 pounds it was on last post, and now half of you are gone...HA!

Other more important things happened these past few days. Life changing things, but I decided to drone on about my being sick. Maybe next time!

much love,
Stephanie
