oh nostalgia, you get me every time

I just rediscovered my long-lost favorite family photo. I am three in my Dad's arms and about to cry or laugh. Rachel is standing in front of mom with bangs and a pink headband and a squint. Mom and Dad have happy vacation smiles. We're in front of the door to "Number Two" (our original cape cod cottage). We are standing on the doorstep of sandy, salty memories. This place no longer exists physically although it is so present mentally. Number Two became another Wellfleet villa a few years back and I am definitely too old to wear pink socks with white sandals. You must know those photos that are so satisfying to stare at and you are immersed in a thick slice of time.

good thing I am going somewhere on Saturday. My present earnestly lacks interest and I do not want to spend my days retracing the past. So, hey there, future, it's good to see you didn't forget about me. It's been a terrific month filled with a journey down to New Orleans with the rents (I didn't think I would start using YM lingo either), a trek through ocean and sand dunes with Jess, quality time with friends in the area, quality time with books, babysitting my favorite little one, and all that other good stuff that comes with being home.

I must go hang with Ms. Bronte for a bit so that I will not be the slacker oxford scholar haha.

happy watermelon and thundershower days to y'all...
