Ten Terrible Titles

Jun 01, 2015 13:25

The fabulous Susie Day (whose Pea's Book series is one of my favorite MG series, ever) tagged me last week to do the Ten Terrible Titles meme. Here are the rules:

Scroll through your manuscript and stop on a random place, ten times. Whatever you land on becomes one of ten terrible titles.

And here are the answers for Courting Magic, which are definitely terrible (and occasionally terrifying) - but I promised to play fairly, so here goes:

1. She might as well have saved her breath. (A truly damning title!)

2. I was hardly indecent.

3. I would have loved to throttle every member of my loving family.

4. Stunned speechless with horror

5. At the last moment, he stilled, his breath brushing agonizingly close against my lips.

6. “Oh, don’t fuss so!”

7. Magic swept her up through the air.

8. Mr. Gregson stopped me.

9. Our lips were nearly touching.

10. But I could still roll my eyes, and I did so with vigor.

Oh, dear. ;)

Tagging any other writers who want to play! (Or any readers who want to play the game with one of their favorite books!)

PS: Funnily enough, my upcoming adult novel, Masks and Shadows, was actually named through a method a lot like this, as I swept through the manuscript looking for something appropriate...but it definitely wasn't chosen quite so randomly. ;)
