First: the cover vote for A Reckless Magick (the UK edition of Kat 3) has spoken: the cover will be yellow!

Second: my short story "Dancing in the Dark" is going to be published in Daily Science Fiction this Friday! If you want to read it on Friday, just subscribe to their email list, and they'll email the story directly to your inbox Friday morning. If you'd rather not, you can read it one week later, when they'll post the story online for everybody to see. (And I'll definitely post that link here when it's ready!)
There are some stories I write for fun, and some for a challenge...and some stories, like this one, that I write just to survive my emotions in the wake of a traumatic event. "Dancing in the Dark" is one of my most deeply-felt stories, and although re-reading the galleys last week raised painful memories for me, I do love the story and can't wait for it to be published.
(Note for any kids or parents who might be reading: unlike my novels, "Dancing in the Dark" isn't MG. It was written for adults, and it does include some strong language.)
Third: I sent off a big freelance project today, a day early! Wooooot! I am planning to celebrate...just as soon as I can gather up the energy. Sigh. MrD woke REALLY early today! But I'm hoping to head into town tomorrow for a celebratory slice of chocolate cheesecake at Caffé Nero. Mmmm....
