And the 5 questions meme...

Rules of the meme: leave a comment asking me to be interviewed, and I'll ask you five questions; when you post the answers on your own blog, include these rules. NOTE: this interview offer is limited to the first three commenters, because I only have limited 2-handed typing time nowadays and need to make sure to leave enough time for fiction ( Read more... )

As far as I'm concerned, the worst Jane Austen novel is A Christmas Carol. Not in her usual style at all. ;)

Interview me?

Hmm, yes. You'd hardly even know it was her work... ;p

1. If you were a pirate, what would your nickname be?
2. If you could choose any book you've ever read to be turned into a movie, which would it be?
3. If you could pick one of your short stories to be made into a movie, which would it be, and whom would you cast?
4. What's your guilty favorite among TV shows?
5. If you and your friends had formed a metal band at university, what would the name have been?

I'm fascinated by answer #1...although you admit it comes closer to the "lack of two-handed typing" which made me smile!

Interview!

Until Mr Darcy was born, I never understood just how precious 2-handed typing time really can be! ;)

1 (because I want to hear YOUR take on it!): How has parenthood affected your writing, practically & philosophically?
2. What books were the most formative for you in becoming a writer?
3. You've sold a YA novel (WOOT!). Back when you were the age of the teens who are going to read your book now, did you already know that you wanted to be a writer? What (if any) alternate careers/day jobs did you have in mind?
4. If you could spend one day in the world of any novel, which novel would it be?
5. When was the last time you loved a book so much you had to stay up late to finish it?

I thinkl Anne. When one reads the beginning of Agnes Grey, and compares it to the ego-centric "Oh how I suffer" governess portion of Jane Eyre, then look at their lives, it seems clear to me that Anne gritted her teeth and quietly endured, while Charlotte moaned and complained until people conformed more to her. They were all brilliant (though I think Emile was emotionally so out of touch she couldn't function, and it shows in her literature) but Anne had the most profound understanding of human nature.

YES - very good point. And it reminds me that I really need to go back and re-read Anne's books again...

I so agree with you on the Italian food! I grew up in New Jersey, but for grad school I lived three years in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was not unusual for Grand Forks residents to drive 70 miles to Fargo to go to Olive Garden, because it was the closest (pseudo)Italian food!

Oh, yeah. Sadly, I now really miss the Olive Garden, whereas in the old days I thought it wasn't nearly as good as the independents around...sigh!
