It was with great difficulty that I left Toronto after the wild card round. After all the nerves and singing and hugs and kisses and congratulations, I wanted to stay and keep hugging and kissing and congratulating. Alas, I had no good reason to stay, and ten good reasons to leave: my ten friends, now the Canadian Idol Top Ten, who I didn't want to send into any kind of head or guilt trip with my unnecessary presence. My reasons for staying would have been purely selfish ones, I feared: to try to hang on to the Idol mystique and fanfare just a big longer, to stay clutched at coattails, to ride in the bow waves. I wanted to support my friends, and I forced myself to go home to Edmonton and do it from there.

Then I heard that Diego had gone back to Toronto to visit. He was welcomed. I hoped I would be, too. I was. Thank you. I spent a pleasant evening with him and Daryl and Suzi and Josh, and I hope to spend time with more of you tomorrow when you are not busy. I will be happy to play "beer wench" for you all, and I have been designated laundry maid as well. I don't mind. You eight have enough to worry about, and if there are things I can do to help make things easier for you, I will do them. I want to see you all perform your very best on Tuesday, you're all incredible.
