Bird Holiday Hat Trick

This year's Thanksgiving weekend was overwhelmingly positive.

Due to a technical snafu, I wasn't able to eat dinner on Turkey Day with my mom, so I ate with my brother John's family instead.  I haven't seen them in years.  For once, John and I had more to do than gripe about our family drama.  His kids (ages 2 to 7) are well-behaved and intelligent.  Very unlike John when he was that age!

Mom (that's weird to say) and Steve (Stepdad... weird to say that, too) came up to Bham Friday morning.  It was a treat to spend time with them.  After breakfast, we hit Whatcom Falls Park for a couple hours and talked politics, of all things.  (They're conservatives from Alaska.  They like Palin. *twitch*)  Then they wanted to chill at a coffee shop for a bit, so I introduced them to the Black Drop.  I'm looking forward to the possibility of visiting them next summer, if I can manage it.

For the hat trick of good stuff this week, I found out last night (via Ravyn) that a bunch of my old friends from high school are living in the Seattle area.
