 Title:  Curses
Pairing:  House/Cuddy and a supportive cast of Wilson.
Summary:  Finally, a oneshot.  Deviations from season seven episodes “A Pox on Our House” and “Small Sacrifices.”  Or:  why House has not met Cuddy’s mother yet.  Or:  Fight, followed by maybe sex.  
Warnings:  I am Team House.  Small degree of angst.

Always thrilled to read one of yours, be it multi-chap or 1 shot.
I enjoyed the team standing together - they're like family, in that they can screw with each other all day long, but when external forces intrude, they close ranks with a slam.

I think I get why Cuddy was the one in the wrong and apologized to House. If her defense is "at least April didn't die!", then that's ludicrous. She says this: “But I am coming to believe, that … in some kinds of conflicts … indifference, or ambivalence, or indecision, I guess, is the one choice that doesn’t deserve respect."

But that kind of situation, the needs/life of 1 patient (House's) vs. what at least appears to be the greater good (and usually is dictated by CDC/hospital regs), is really untenable for Cuddy. If she always sides with/believes in House (even if he's eventually, usually right), she's open to charges of favoritism, and the hospital gets slapped with $200K fines. Too many of those, and she'd get fired. Not to mention the 'what if' - if he's wrong (or not right in time), the hospital and community could be exposed to deadly pathogens.
If she goes totally by the book, well, House would've been canned before Season 1 was over, and the rulebook isn't nearly as fun in bed. And, not unimportant, patients would die unnecessarily.

If my boyfriend/significant other said something about me like this: "Cuddy defines herself by what she does. She’s going to have to give up her pride and separate my lack of respect for her as a doctor from my respect for her as a person.” I would have serious doubts about our relationship - I don't know that I'd be self-confident enough to compartmentalize to that extreme. Cuddy takes pride in being a doctor/administrator (as we saw by her reaction to the lab coat embroidery last story), and the fact that House doesn't respect what she does has to be painful & frustrating. I hope House at least appreciates that if Cuddy weren't as good at her job, he wouldn't be able to do his as successfully.

I hope House does get to see Cuddy's new dress soon, on and off. :) If they've gone 2 weeks without sex, then they're gonna need some extended quality time together. I admit I pictured a scene where House goes to Cuddy's while she's at work to pick up some clothes/guitars, and has a little play time with Rachel. Too sappy? :) Looking forward to more, in whatever format delights you best!
