Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts (Cowboy Bebop) - Wo Qui Non Coin
This song makes me want to cry. It's this really quiet bossanova beat with an amazing acoustic guitar part. And the singer is this very girly-sounding japanese singer. At first, she's singing in Japanese, but halfway through the song, she begins singing in French, and flutes or a related wind instrument begins playing in the background (as the vocal part is doubled.) Then it goes quiet for a moment, with just one vocal part, and softly erupts into this beautiful note, and a chilling flute part. It's so beautiful. She's singing about a dog that she lost and can't find again.
The Slip - Catacea
This song, oh, this song... the details of my life begin spilling out when I begin to discuss this song. This song- This song. The intro to a jam band album, it's light strumming electric guitar, going in and out without rythym, with the raining cymbal affect, and some instrument being placed under a heavy amount of effects to create a Whale Talk affect. It sounds like a humpback whale. It's so beautiful and haunting. I've pulled over to the side of the road because this one has made me feel that much.
