So I have been humbled by my inability to write scientifically. Or so I have been reminded of by my professor:
"I have rewritten the abstract, and I would like the two of you to look it over and compare it with what you wrote. Specifically, you should consider the scientific accuracy of the statements that you have made. I have tried as much as possible to maintain the 'flavor' of your writing; unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that a lot of it was too vague, unclear, or worse, inaccurate. We will need to work much more closely together on the poster- it is clear to me that making comments on your writing is inadequate to address your misconceptions or writing issues. All this sounds rather harsh, but frankly, I'm frustrated that you were not able to produce a better piece of writing working from the previous abstract, poster and research proposal.
Please go ahead and send the abstract to Miss X if you feel it's acceptable to you."
Ouch.
And it's true, we get chummy with our profs, but in the end they are still our teachers and have to be harsh with their students once in a while... But dang nabbit, what a way to crush my confidence for Senior Seminar.
Oh well I guess I will just have to trudge along.
yikes
