This weekend I went with my parents to visit relatives in Georgia, not far from Gainesville. Not much to report about the actual visit...
I watched a lot of tv, which is not really my favorite activity, but oh well.
On Sunday, it snowed pretty heavily. On Monday, when we came back home, the entire route through GA, SC, and NC was surrounded by snow. The roads were fine for the most part, though we saw a lot of cars on the side of the road, and one tractor trailer had gone off the road, which caused a traffic jam. We stopped at a gas station that had no power, where I had to take a flashlight into the bathroom. (After waiting in that traffic jam for so long, I really had to go!) We later stopped at a gas station that had half power. The pumps were going very slow, and it took about 10 minutes to get 4 gallons of gas. The fast food restaurants where we wanted to stop for lunch were closed due to the lack of power.
Finally we got to Charlotte, where we found everything business as usual. We went to IKEA, which I had really been looking forward to since it opened a couple weeks ago. It was as awesome as I expected. The place is huge and there are a lot of great deals. I got a couple lamps and other odds & ends. There were a lot of people at IKEA considering it was a Monday afternoon and there was snow on the ground.
Anyway, now I'm home and very happy about it.
Oh yes, photos, of course. I only took a couple that I like. One doesn't even show the snow.
I took this one from my parents' yard when we got back:
That one was also taken from my parents' yard.
Anyway, I better continue packing. Moving on Saturday!
